During B-Rabbit's last battle in 8 Mile, an unlucky coin toss inspires our spaghetti-loving hero to preemptively embrace his humble upbringing in an effort to remove the power from the impending disses via opponent Papa Doc. Everyone loves or at least kind of likes this movie, even — apparently — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
In his first 2016 presidential campaign ad (see above), Christie makes like B-Rabbit by embracing what he deems an inherited adherence to bluntness. Perhaps predicting future disses from the many proverbial Papa Docs awaiting him in his laughably improbable path to the White House, Christie seems to believe that expressing pride in one's past is the only key to presidential appeal.
For the record — Christie doesn't mention Bridgegate, the reported abuse of his NJ expense account, mishandled Hurricane Sandy relief funds, or this:
