Though it feels like it's been eons since we got new Stranger Things, we can now take some collective solace in the fact that we are just months away from the megahit Netflix series' third season.

"One summer can change everything" is the catchy phrase being tossed around in various promo material, with this first proper glimpse at the new episodes teasing a variety of possible changes to the Hawkins crew. We're also given a nicely reworked version of The Who's 1971 single "Baba O'Riley" and a taste of what level of strangeness to expect amongst the latest batch of things.

Up top, catch the just-released new trailer. Stranger Things returns July 4.

As with any show with sensitive plot content, cast members haven’t been able to disclose very much about the direction the Duffer Brothers are taking Eleven and company this year in recent interviews leading up to the trailer reveal. Almost exactly a year ago, executive producer Shawn Levy cited the original Back to the Future as a reference point. Levy also teased that "Dad Steve," as well as the relationships between Mike and Eleven and Lucas and Mad Max, will still be "going strong" when season 3 opens.

In an interview with CNET published around the same time multiple cast members shared production wrap-celebrating photos on social media, star David Harbour (Jim Hopper) suggested that the series will close out within two more seasons. "We're either going to do season 4 or season 5," he said in January. "It's still being debated." As for the show's larger story arc, Harbour added, he's been in on the Duffer Brothers' plans since day one.
