The new Watchmen trailer you ordered has arrived.
Up top, unpack the latest look at HBO's new series from Lost and Leftovers co-creator Damon Lindelof.
The "remixed" take on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' DC Comics limited series will give us nine episodes in the first season, which premieres Oct. 20.
In a 2018 Instagram letter, Lindelof said he and his HBO team had "no desire" to strictly adapt the 12 issues of Moore and Gibbons' classic. He also wasn't interested in a mere retread or reboot of the "sacred" text.
"They will, however, be remixed," he said. "Because the bass lines in those familiar tracks are just too good and we’d be fools not to sample them."
The series boasts the scoring prowess of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, with a cast featuring Regina King and Don Johnson. Nicole Kassell, whose previous credits include Vinyl and The Americans, directed the first episode titled "It's Summer and We’re Running Out of Ice."
Back in April, Varietyreported that Kassell and season 1 True Detective director Cary Fukunaga were uniting to bring The Last of the Mohicans to TV. In a statement, Kassell called the Paramount TV x Anonymous Content x Parliament of Owls production "the opportunity of a lifetime."
James Fenimore Cooper's book has previously been adapted for cinema, most famously by Michael Mann in 1992. That version starred Daniel Day-Lewis, who received widespread critical acclaim and a British Academy Film Awards nomination for the film.
