Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Gets Deep on His Badass Bull Tattoo

The 'Jumanji' star also recommended we break out some tequila.

The evolution of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's bull tattoo is complete. On Friday, Johnson shared a detailed breakdown of the tattoo's status as a symbol of support for all the "positive disrupters" in the world. Johnson also requested a breaking out of tequila, always an apt move after any tattoo.

"Every detail is a reflection of my own personal history," Johnson said on Instagram Friday. "From the cracks and heavy damage in the bone representing life's hard lessons I've learned over the years. Just like scars and wrinkles - I'm so grateful to have 'em because they're earned. To the horns, not pointing up or out to the side, but pointing straight ahead representing relentless energy and forward progress [sic]."

In a separate post shared at the start of the process earlier this week, Johnson opened up about his decision to update the bull he's had tattooed on his arm for decades. "I got this tattoo when I was just a kid," he explained. "Now I need it to reflect me as a man. All my ink is a rite of passage and spiritual and the MANA (power and spirit) has to be right before we begin [sic]."

If we look into the bull's eye, Johnson explained, we should feel that same mana. "Cheers to living, learning, evolving, and growing," Johnson said. The updated bull took a total of three sessions and 22 hours of tattooing with Black Anchor L.A. artist Nikko Hurtado. Before kicking off the three-session process, Hurtado and Johnson had an hours-long discussion about Johnson's personal journey.

Check out more of Hurtado's work below:

Johnson will next be seen in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, a continuation of the classic 1995 film starring Robin Williams and Bonnie Hunt. The sequel is directed by Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story) and also stars Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, and Nick Jonas. Catch it Dec. 20.
