Disney's new take on Mulan, directed by Niki Caro, received a new trailer Thursday ahead of its March 2020 release.

The live-action remake of Disney's 1998 animated hit of the same name stars Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen, Yoson An, Jason Scott Lee, Jet Li, and Gong Li. The script is based on the "Ballad of Mulan" poem and was penned by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Elizabeth Martin, and Lauren Hynek.

As longtime Disney experts already know, the story centers on Hua Mulan taking the place of her sick father when the Emperor of China orders that "one man per family" is required to serve in the Imperial Army.

Tony Bancroft, who co-directed the 1998 version, told Insider back in October that he was "excited" about Disney's decision to revive the story for a new generation.

"It felt like they were taking the best parts of the story—a girl who will do anything to save her father [and] bring her father and her family honor," Bancroft, who caught a previous teaser trailer for the movie while on a walk to church, said.

Mulan is out March 27 and follows Disney's recent revisitations of other classics including Dumbo, The Lion King, Aladdin, and, as a Disney+ original, Lady and the Tramp.
