Despite rolling out the first update to iOS 5 yesterday in order to address, among other things, dreadful battery life reported by some customers, Apple acknowledged today that a few problems remain to be sorted out.

Since the update, Apple forums and various blog posts have been pinged with complaints from iPhone owners who say the update did nothing to assuage their battery woes. In a statement to AllThingsD, Apple insisted that it had solved most battery life issues related to the OS, but admitted that still others persist.

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues,” the company said.

Will another software update follow? Is a hardware fix called for among the fresh crop of iPhone 4S owners? Many had hoped that iOS 5.0.1 would put the kibosh on the battery dilemma, but it looks like things could be getting more complicated.
