When I saw the first trailer for The Rock and Zac Efron's Baywatch, I got The Nice Guys vibes, at least from the rapport The Rock (who would be the Russell Crowe of the equation) and Zac Efron (who's the Ryan Gosling) had. After catching the second look, it feels much closer to the analogy The Rock had of it being The Avengers of the beach, although with the way former Complex cover star Priyanka Chopra is introduced, you could get some Fast and The Furious feels as well, and I wouldn't say you were wrong.
In Baywatch, Priyanka's Victoria Leeds seems to be the cause of the bodies dropping on Mitch Buchannon's beach, and in typical Rock fashion, instead of standing by idly, he picks up some big guns and goes to town. Zac Efron's still the attractive, reluctant badass who's more about looking cool than actually getting his hands dirty, but as you can see, he's DTF: down to f*ck sh*t up. And boy do they; we're talking everything from suited-up undercover missions to the biggest of explosions. Baywatch might end up being the summer blockbuster you've been waiting for.
