The curfew imposed on the city of Baltimore earlier this week has been lifted, officials say.
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake had instituted the 10 p.m. curfew on Tuesday after violence broke out in the city. The Associated Press reports that Rawlings-Blake had intended to keep it in place through this evening, but no longer deems it necessary:

Effective immediately, I have rescinded my order instituting a city-wide curfew. I want to thank the people of Baltimore for their patience.

The Associated Press notes that tensions have eased in Baltimore after charges were filed against the six officers involved in Freddie Gray's arrest. Gray died last month, exactly a week after being taken into custody by Baltimore police.
