A 15-year-old boy was killed in Montana over the weekend when his friend accidentally shot him in the head after the teen threw pebbles at his bedroom window early in the morning.
According to KHQ, the Billings Police Department released a statement explaining that Mackeon Schulte and a friend were outside of their friend's home around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, attempting to wake him. The 17-year-old reportedly did not recognize them, so he opened fire using a gun that was in his bedroom.
Schulte was shot in the head, and died after being transported to St. Vincent Hospital.
KTVQ adds that the older boy was brought in for questioning, but was ultimately released. Authorities are working to determine if formal charges should be filed.
