The Batman director Matt Reeves has provided eager fans with a glimpse of what Robert Pattison will look like in the batsuit in his upcoming film. Reeves also revealed that the score playing in the background was provided by two-time Academy Award nominated composer Michael Giacchino, who won the award for Best Original Score for his work on the 2009 movie Up.

The Batman will mark the fifth time that Reeves and Giacchino have worked together on a film. Despite their history, Reeves publicly secured his longtime collaborator for his latest project with a mock marriage proposal last October.

The unveiling of the Batsuit comes two days after the DCEU Leaks subreddit shared a leaked blurry still image of Pattinson with the mask on. Reeves has been incredibly transparent throughout the process of making The Batmanconfirming casting decisions and announcing a few weeks ago that filming was officially underway.

The response to Reeves' tweet of Pattinson in the new Batsuit has been a bit polarizing with some people on social media comparing it to Daredevil.

The filmmaker, however, knew the 33-year-old actor was the right choice after he jumped through the final hoop in the casting process, which was a screen test where he donned the suit used in a previous Batman film.

Although it has not been confirmed, some fans have speculated that the bat symbol displayed on the chest of this latest version of Batman contains pieces of the gun that killed Bruce Wayne's parents.

This theory is far from implausible since Detective Comics #1000 saw a disguised Bruce buy the handgun used by Joe Chill to kill his parents from a pawn shop for $1,500. Wayne then repurposed the firearm by melting it down, and converting the metal into a shield that he positions under the bat symbol on his chest. "I'm going to burn the metal that killed my parents, and forge it into something useful," he states in the comic. "So the metal that broke my heart as a child? That same metal will protect my heart as a man."

The Batman is slated to be released on June 25, 2021.
