With a respectable 70 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, Solo wasn't a critical failure, but after earning just $392 million worldwide, the film struggled to break even commercially, especially after a directorial change from Phil Lord and Chris Miller to Ron Howard led to a significant amount of reshoots, which doubled the project's original budget.

The final product was a film that was fun and entertaining, but still had its faults. Like many movies before it, Solo has experienced something of revival on Blu-ray and Netflix with viewers developing a newfound appreciation for the flick and its characters—yes, even Alden Ehrenreich's portrayal of Han Solo

The controversy caused many people to not see a great #StarWars movie in the theater. #soloastarwarsstory It has become a huge hit on bluray and Netflix. I (Jon) really disliked Solo upon first viewing. In fact I called it my least favorite Star Wars Film in one of our commentaries. Now, a year later and about a dozen or so rewatches I absolutely love it, especially AE as Han. Today we join our fellow fans in #MakeSolo2Happen, pic.twitter.com/TUyPhYY2i1

#MakeSolo2Happen?! Trending in the USA?! WTF is THIS?! 🤣😱👀 But I must say, I did like #AldenEhrenreich's performance, seeing "Han Solo" evolve... and his chemistry with #Chewbacca was the best thing in the movie. I'd be down for a buddy sequel! #StarWars #Positivity! pic.twitter.com/hOFm2Jwwhw
