Lil Yachty Tapped to Star in MTV's 'How High 2'

Yachty has been cast in 'How High 2,' the follow-up to the 2001 cult classic which starred Method Man and Redman.

Lil Yachty will star in How High 2, the follow-up to the 2001 cult classic starring Method Man and Redman. Yachty will play Roger, "the younger brother of one of the protagonists from the original film," according to the official press release. The movie will tell the story of Roger and a friend as they embark on a mission as two "potrepreneurs" looking for a way to "fund their on-demand munchies delivery start-up."

The decision to cast Yachty for How High 2 is a particularly interesting one since he revealed in a 2017 interview with The Breakfast Club that, at the time, he had not been high in "three or four years." That is, of course, if he was being honest. Also, things can change in the matter of a year.

Despite being somewhat unfamiliar playing a stoner, Lil Boat has previously stated that he's intrigued by the idea of taking on pretty much any role, except for a rapper. "Something irregular. Like a goon or someone hood. A drug dealer. Like, a crack addict. Anything," he toldTMZ. "Something funny. Something dope. Not nothing normal. I don’t want to play a rapper." Yachty made his first foray into feature films earlier this year, providing the voice for Green Lantern in the animated movie Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.

Yachty may have hinted at Redman and Method Man possibly reprising their roles when he told someone on Twitter that "the rest of the cast hasn’t even been announced yet."

How High 2 will be produced by MTV, and premiere on the network in 2019.
