TikTok influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, along with her husband and two children, were reportedly found dead inside an abandoned truck in Mexico last month.
According to People, prosecutor Alfonso Gutierrez Santillan said in a press conference that four people wrapped in plastic were discovered in the San Andrés neighborhood of Guadalajara on Aug. 22.
Days later, it was revealed that the bodies belonged to Garibay, her husband, and their two kids, ages 13 and 7.
Santillan said multiple pieces of evidence lead them to believe the family was killed at the scene, as reported by Us Weekly.
The Mexican newspaper El Financiero has reported three men who worked at a mechanic shop, where the truck had been deserted, were arrested but later released due to insufficient evidence.
Garibay, who went by Esmeralda FG on TikTok, started posting on the platform in 2020 and amassed 45,000 followers through her lifestyle and travel content. She posted a video of herself driving around her ranch in what became her final TikTok post on Aug. 7.
An investigation into the family's death is ongoing.
