The Met Gala took place this week, and many celebrities went above and beyond to adhere to the “Gilded Glamour” theme.

Lili Reinhart, however, believes some may have taken their commitment to fashion too far by “starving” themselves for a look. The Riverdale/Hustlers actress took to her Instagram Stories after the event to comment on how certain celebs were going to extreme lengths to fit into specific fashion pieces for the red carpet.

“To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are…because you haven’t eaten carbs in the last month...all to fit in a fucking dress?” she wrote. “So wrong. So fucked on 100s of levels.”

Reinhart went on to say that it was irresponsible for someone to “admit to starving yourself,” given their platform and reach.

“To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala,” she said. “When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting.”

While Reinhart never named anyone specifically, many believe she was referencing Kim Kardashian. The SKIMS co-founder said in a Vogue interview that she underwent a rigorous diet and workout regimen in order to drop 16 pounds and fit into the iconic dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing “Happy Birthday” to John F. Kennedy.

“I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict,” Kim said.

After receiving some backlash from some Kardashian fans, Reinhart took to Twitter to clarify she did not make her comments for attention.

*sigh*
I do not say the things that I say because I want to be relevant or get attention. I speak up because I don’t see enough people with large platforms calling out toxic behavior in our industry. Some people will never understand where I’m coming from and that’s okay ☯️🙏🏻

Several hours prior, Reinhart engaged twice with a user who wrote, “@lilireinhart desperate attempt to become relevant again and stir up beef with Kim K is on another level of desperate! This girl now looks for any and every reason to be woke and triggered. We all know you’re just jealous you weren’t invited this year.”

“Your bio is ‘woman of god’ and you’re tweeting this to me?” Lili retorted. “Lol pipe down, Karen.”

Kardashian hasn’t said anything about her diet to fit the dress beyond her Vogue interview.
