Ubisoft has been relentless with their release schedule this year, covering their bases on their major franchises with Rayman and Assassin's Creed, and now soon to be releasing the much-talked-about Watch Dogs. The title is basically every NSA conspiracy theorist's wet dream (or worst nightmare, depending on how you look at it), following Aiden Pearce, an expert hacker on a mission to commit royal, digital fuckery throughout the city of Chicago. You'll employ all sorts of technological tricks to progress through the game, as well as parkour, and your standard, third person gunplay. Don't forget, though: information is the primary battlefield in Watch Dogs. This is 21st century warfare at its finest.

If Harmonix is getting involved in a music game, then you know that you can expect some good things to unfold. The original developers of Guitar Hero have now partnered up with Disney to create Fantasia: Music Evolved, a motion-controlled, rhythm game that will look to give the Kinect some serious play in the eighth generation. Only a few songs have been announced for the game so far—featuring artists ranging from Bruno Mars to Antonio Vivaldi—but expect the playlist they assemble in the end to be fully up to par with the soundtracks of Harmonix's past.

There's something about mech warfare that standard, military combat games like Call of Duty can't match. Having control of giant robot gives you a certain sense of power that's just plain thrilling, and the features that mechanized combat affords far outstrip those of regular ol' skin and bones. With Respawn Entertainment's upcoming Titanfall, you'll be thrust into the battlefield of bots in a multiplayer-only setting, while working your way through a standard campaign mode. With the absence of a proper single-player mode, many are calling Titanfall the next step in FPS gaming.

Since the first Halo title dropped, Bungie has constantly been under a microscope in terms of game development. Similar to Titanfall, Bungie's new title, Destiny, will take the FPS genre to an exclusively MMO setting, putting you in the shoes of one of three different races fighting for their survival in a post-apocalyptic world. As we saw with the Halo series, you can't really expect Bungie to slack when it comes to making a good game. Destiny sounds like it'll have no trouble carrying on the tradition of success that the company has since established.

The Killer Instinct series is a well-credited, if sorely underused, name in the gaming world, so it's something of a treat to see the franchise getting a reboot with the Xbox One's launch. While the character roster on the newest title is decidedly small, new content releases over the next few months will help to mitigate these shortcomings, as well as its overall quality of play. A good fighting game can look absolutely beautiful when given a fresh coat of digitally rendered paint. After years of lying dormant, Killer Instinct will look to make some noise in a very big way for the new generation of consoles.
