Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to the 2017 blockbuster that raked in more than $820 million, has been pushed back seven months from November 1, 2019 to June 5, 2020, according to the film's star Gal Gadot:
Your point of view on this is likely dependent upon your life philosophy that either thirsts for everything right now, or your slow and steady approach to taking as much time as you need to get things right.
However, as pointed out by Deadline, had Wonder Woman 1984 stuck with the November 1 release date, it would've come out less than a month after another D.C. film, more specifically The Joker movie set to star Joaquin Phoenix (which will hit theaters on October 4, 2019). The move will also have the simultaneous consequence of giving Wonder Woman another summer release, which is what happened last year when it became the season's highest grossing film both domestically ($412.5 million) and worldwide ($821.8 million).
That fact wasn't lost by Warner Bros. as evidenced by a statement from domestic distribution head honcho Jeff Goldstein. "We had tremendous success releasing the first Wonder Woman film during the summer so when we saw an opportunity to take advantage of the changing competitive landscape, we did," Goldstein said. "This move lands the film exactly where it belongs."
Lastly, the change of schedule appears to have completely bumped Mark Wahlberg's Six Billion Dollar Man from the Warner timetable, as that movie was slated for a June 5, 2020 release date. So if you had interest in both this could be doubly bad.
