Outside of Wayans, the Jenners were praised for their adherence to this year's 'camp' theme.

Life imitates art and art imitates life. For comedian Marlon Wayans, the popular saying was personified after he noticed that sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner's Met Gala gowns bore an eerie similarity to a scene from his movie White Chicks.

On Monday, Wayans took to Instagram, where he posted a collage of the Jenners' dresses next to a still shot of him and his brother in their cult-classic comedy.

"White chicks 2," Wayan's captioned the picture. "It writes itself."

While Wayans rarely takes a break from being funny, this joke could be more about his expressed desires to create White Chicks 2 than it is about the Jenners' gowns. Since the movie was released in 2004, there have been talks surrounding a sequel. In fact, many of the film's original stars have committed themselves to the cause. But, nearly 15 years after the first installment, White Chicks 2 has yet to get a green light.

Outside of Marlon's comedic eye, the Jenners received praise for their adherence to this year's "camp" theme. Their complimentary Versace gowns caught many by surprise as one of the evening's highlights. It also should be noted that the siblings collaborated with Versace's designers to create their attire.

"We kinda decided to go for it. Kylie and I worked on it and we came up with a fun vibe with Donatella," Kendall explained to E! News. "My dress has a lot of feathers at the bottom, so I almost tripped myself but, yeah. I saw pictures, she’s a rock star and I love her. She’s amazing."
