There's renewed interest in all things Nathan Fielder following the absolutely unhinged season finale of his latest show The Curse.

That means digging up some old clips from his days as a Canadian comic, and popular Instagram account Old Toronto has found an interesting one: "Morning Walk" with Chris Locke as Side of Smooth from 2008, which the account called Fielder's "Toronto rap." The clip has so far been watched 117,000 times in three days.

As someone accurately pointed out, Fielder isn't really rapping but scatting, but the deadpan facial expression is classic Fielder. According to Old Toronto, the video was shot in Little Portugal.

Reactions have been mixed so far. It's not exactly Fielder's funniest moment, but who can say they were at their creative peak in 2008?

"A legendary local cut," said one commenter. Another called it a "Canadian Heritage Minute."

Some commenters also called it "wack" and questioned whether it was even funny/comedy. Surprisingly, a few unironically observed that the guy in the video is in a new show with Emma Stone. Unironically? Honestly, with Fielder fans who knows.

Others used the opportunity to slam current Toronto rap.

"Better than most rap coming out of the city these days," said one.

"Organized Rhyme did it better," added someone who clearly is a Tom Green fan.

"This is great, but do you remember when he interviewed Dave Coulier about Coolio and completely pissed him off? Lots of people forget Nathan was behind that," said another commenter, one of many to shout out Fielder's early days on Canadian comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

Fortunately, YouTube remembers all.
