'The End of the F***ing World' Will Return to Netflix for Second Season

The Emmy-nominated comedy-drama became an international success when it debuted on Netflix in January 2018. Now, it has been renewed for a second season by Netflix and Channel 4.

One of the best shows of 2018 has been renewed by Netflix and Channel 4 for a second season.

The End of The F***ing World was a surprise hit when it debuted on British television station Channel 4 in late 2017, then it became an international success when the series arrived on Netflix in January. Written by Charlie Covell, the charming Emmy-nominated teen comedy drama is based on a graphic novel by Charles S. Forsman. The wildly successful first season followed a pair of teens played by Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden as they headed out on a road trip full of strange twists and turns.

Channel 4’s head of drama Beth Willis told Deadline, "The End of The F***ing World is a truly special show that constantly intrigues. It has an almost alchemical blend of pitch-black humor and beautifully warm tenderness which marks it out as a truly unique show. We’re so proud that this global success story began at Channel 4 and that a second series is on its way. Charlie’s witty, wonderful world is back, and we can’t wait to see where she takes it next."

Hearing the news, Covell responded, "I’m completely thrilled that we’re going again and I’m delighted to be back working with such a great team."

The upcoming second season will be written by Covell and executive produced by Murray Ferguson, Ed Macdonald, Andy Baker, Charlie Covell, Dominic Buchanan, and Jonathan Entwistle.

Netflix also announced this week that they will be renewing their Emmy-nominated comedy series GLOW for a third season.
