A San Antonio, Texas, man fatally shot his wife in the couple’s home on Saturday after he allegedly mistook her for an intruder.
Police say at about 4 a.m. the man reportedly heard noises near the front of the house and saw a light flash, prompting him to get his shotgun. In the darkness he saw a light and a figure and fired his shotgun once. It was then he realized it was his wife, Debora Kelly, 48, who was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The man, whose name has not been released since police haven’t charged him, may walk away since Texas law allows homeowners to shoot intruders trying to break into their home. The incident is still under investigation.
