If you're not in the mood tonight to have your adrenaline rushed by Optimus Prime in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, laugh your ass off with Charlie Day and company in Horrible Bosses, or even be mildly charmed by Rosario Dawson in the otherwise awful-looking Zookeeper, might we suggest this week's token horror film, starring a cast of relatively unknown, and most importantly, hot, young actresses, The Ward. Well, if you can find it, that is; iconic director John Carpenter's potential comeback flick is only playing in a few theaters nationwide.
The film, starring Amber Heard, is a supernatural and psychological thriller that follows a young women trapped in a mental institution in the 1960s, where a malevolent spirit is killing crazy coeds one by one. Impressed? Wait, it gets better—Lyndsy Fonseca plays a supporting role.
Now that we've piqued your interest, let us re-remind you who Fonseca is exactly. She's the girl you watched on grandma's favorite soap, The Young And The Restless, and the cutie who comforted you after Chloe Moretz made you fear for your life in Kick Ass. Remember her vividly now? No? Well, luckily for you, we've compiled a list of fun facts to re-familiarize yourself with the up-and-coming 24-year-old actress.
She Was Born In Oakland, California
10. She was born in Oakland, California.
Fonseca was born in Raider Nation, which might explain her inherent talent at wielding knives and slinging guns, i.e. her character Alex on The CW's hit series Nikita. But, after an agent discovered Fonseca while she was in junior high, she and her family moved to Los Angeles for pilot season. Within months, she landed her first major role on The Young And The Restless; no threats to casting directors were recorded. As for her Raider fandom and whether or not she owns a Cadillac with hydraulics, those remain a mystery.
She Was Homeschooled
9. She was homeschooled from seventh grade until her high school graduation.
Normally, when you think of homeschooled kids, the image of someone like Lyndsy Fonseca doesn't come to mind; it's something more of pale, unshaven, twitchy-eyed sociopath with a Sims obsession. Blame the movies! Getting back on topic, Fonseca has said of her homeschooled experience that she doesn't feel like she missed out at all; she had friends, with whom she went to four proms So, yeah, Lyndsy was more popular than you and she didn't even go to school.
Her First Notable Role Was On "The Young And The Restless"
8. Her first notable role was as Colleen Carlton on The Young And The Restless (2001-2005).
After a string of child actors played the role of Colleen Carlton, the character was aged to 15 years, finally completing the progression of a "sweet daddy's girl" to "troubled teen." This is, so far, Lyndsy's most recognizable role...if you don't count the topless scene in Kick Ass, which you should.
She's On "How I Met Your Mother"
7. She plays Ted Mosby's daughter on How I Met Your Mother.
Lyndsy plays Ted's (Josh Radnor) future daughter on the hit CBS series, and actually puts up with a very long-winded story of how Ted, yes, met her mother (i.e. the entire plot of the seven-seasons-and-counting sitcom). It's no wonder that his kids are aging during the story—it's taking years to tell. We're not sure why she puts up with it, given she's always rolling her eyes, but maybe Fonseca' character is trying to figure out why the younger version of her dad in the actual episodes doesn't sound like her dad narrating the entire series (voiced by Bob Saget, not Radnor—who knows why).
She First Worked With Amber Heard In "Remember The Daze"
6. She worked with her The Ward co-star Amber Heard in Remember The Daze (2007).
Released in 2007, but set in 1999, Remember The Daze wanted to be this generation's low-budget Dazed and Confused, or American Graffiti, which, in some of our experiences, is how we wish high school was: filled with sex, drugs, hotties like Amber Heard, and a closeted lesbian named Dawn (played by Fonseca). Instead, we got: acne, shut down from trying to steal our mom's cooking wine, and Everquest.
She Was The Love Interest In "Kick-Ass"
5. She was the sexy love interest in Kick-Ass (2010).
In the film that ushered Fonseca into mainstream cinema, she played Katie, the hot but sweet high school girl who became the love interest of the titular character, the homemade superhero Kick-Ass. In an unconventional way to get closer to her, Kick/Dave (played by Aaron Johnson) accepts the rumor that he's gay and beats up a drug lord. Think of the film as a gruesome Spider-Man meets I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry in a high school setting, and Fonseca as its Jessica Biel.
She Co-Starred In "Hot Tub Time Machine"
4. She starred as Iris in Hot Tub Time Machine (2010).
In Hot Tub Time Machine, Lyndsy stars as Jenny, the girl who dumped John Cusack's character back in 1987 and for whom he goes back in time to dump first. Does anyone else find it strange when an actress born in '87 plays a teen in '87? Or that a dude who presently has a miserable life would go back in time to dump a girl who, despite the toxins of her hair spray on her teased head, was probably the best thing that could've happened to him?
She's On "Nikita"
3. She plays Alex on The CW's Nikita (2010).
On The CW remake of the classic femme fatale series, Lyndsy plays Alex, a new recruit to the Division, where they train troubled young people to become ruthless spies and assassins. And, in the process, pawns to catch the rogue former Division standout Nikita (Maggie Q). Alex, however, is a mole placed by Nikita into Division, which she's trying to destroy. A girl hot enough to weaken a powerful, evil criminal with lust and then skilled enough to subsequently put him in a headlock? Well-played, Nikita...well-played.
She Licked Ice Cream In A Tyler Shields Video
2. She licked ice cream in a video shot by photographer Tyler Shields.
There isn't that much to say about this one that can't be expressed with mere sighs, following by shortness of breath. Everyone with a pulse wants to shake the director's, celebrity photographer Tyler Shields, hand; you're a true artist with an extraordinary eye, sir. Now, don't let us keep you, dear readers, from enjoying the video on this hot summer day.
She Celebrated Lindsay Lohan's Final Night Of House Arrest
1. She celebrated Lindsay Lohan's final night of house arrest with LiLo.
After her 35 days under house arrest, due to the infamous necklace incident, Lindsay Lohan was ready to break free from her self-portrait-covered walls and have a (virgin, of course) cocktail and hummus amongst civilization once again. Fonseca, who tweeted photos of her visiting Lohan for a 3D movie day, even postponed a going away dinner for Lohan to attend the event. Oh, true friendships—they share a first name (albeit with different spellings), and they wait until their best friend's ankle monitor accessory is off.
