Armie Hammer has called out a Marvel executive for his contributions to Donald Trump.
On Friday, the actor tweeted that Marvel Entertainment Chairman Isaac Perlmutter is one of Trump's biggest financial backers. Hammer’s message arrives amid cries to boycott fitness chains SoulCycle and Equinox because company chairman Stephen Ross is hosting a fundraiser for Trump.
“Hey, while everyone seems to be on this Equinox thing, it might be a good time to mention that one of Trump’s largest financial contributors is the chairman of Marvel Entertainment (Isaac Perlmutter)..... jussayin,” Hammer tweeted.
According to The Hill, Perlmutter and his wife have donated almost $600,000 to Trump’s presidential campaign in 2019. TMZ reports that in 2016, Perlmutter contributed $1 million to a Trump veterans fundraiser. The Perlmutters also frequently donate to conservative causes.
While Hammer hasn’t appeared in a Marvel film, he did voice the character of the Lone Ranger in the video game Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes in 2014, before Perlmutter’s arrival.
Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame eclipsed James Cameron's Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all-time by raking in almost $2.8 billion at the global box office.
