Anna Kendrick's visit to The Late Show on Friday revealed two interesting bits of trivia about former president Barack Obama: He really likes her 2009 movie Up in the Air, and she called him an "asshole" to his face. The talking points came up when Stephen Colbert asked Anna Kendrick about a photo that she posted to Instagram in 2013 where she was making Obama laugh. Colbert wanted to know what was so funny.
“I got an email saying, ‘Hey, do you want to meet the president?'” Kendrick said around the 2:49 mark. “Naturally, I said, ‘Of what?’ and they were like, ‘The country, you idiot.'”
Kendrick went to an event in Los Angeles to meet Obama and was the first one in attendance. There, she started talking with a Secret Service agent about living in Maine when Obama walked in. While he was meeting everyone and speaking to the crowd, Obama pointed to Kendrick to specifically reference her movie Up in the Air, which he said “talked about the economy and the recession." “Oh, this is such an inconvenient time to be having a full stroke, which is obviously what’s happening. People are looking at me,” she said.
According to Kendrick, Obama later went up to her and asked, “I hope I didn’t embarrass you earlier?” “Yeah, you’re such an asshole,” she responded to laughs. Watch the Colbert conversation, where she addresses if all people from Maine are punctual, above.
