There’s no shame in Taika Waititi’s game.

During a June interview with Sydney Morning Herald, the Oscar-winning director/writer addressed the viral photos of him, Tessa Thompson, and Rita Ora. You remember: the ones in which they were locked in a three-way smooch fest in Sydney. Well, the paparazzi images created a bit of stir across social media, and drew a mix of reactions ranging from shock to amused to jealousy.

Weeks after the photos began circulating on the internet, Waititi responded to all the fuss surrounding the incident. And, to no one’s surprise, he has zero regrets over his actions.

“I was doing nothing wrong,” he told the Morning Herald, before he was asked if the attention made him angry. “Not really. I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick. And also, ‘is it that big a deal?’ No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

Well said.

On Thursday, Waititi posted a photo of him alongside Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. The director confirmed he had wrapped filming for the much-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder sequel, starring Hemsworth and Thompson. The film is expected to hit theaters on May 6, 2022.

“This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever done,” he captioned the photo, “and I’m honoured to bust my ass and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022.”
