Ahead of next month’s release of the mystery sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, writer/director Rian Johnson has confirmed the sexual orientation of Daniel Craig’s character Benoit Blanc.

During a press conference at the London Film Festival last weekend, Johnson revealed that Blanc, the protagonist detective portrayed by the James Bond actor, is queer. When asked about a particular scene in the upcoming film which shows Benoit with a male lover, Johnson responded, “Yes, he obviously is.”

The Star Wars: The Last Jedi helmer added, “There’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with.”

Craig then chimed in, “No spoilers, [but] who wouldn’t want to live with that person?”

The sequel to 2019’s Knives Out hits Netflix on Dec. 23 and will also premiere in select theaters. Craig is joined in a once again mega-starry ensemble by Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Madelyn Cline, Dave Bautista, Jessica Henwick, and Kate Hudson.

In early 2021, it was reported that Netflix had finalized a deal for two follow-ups to Knives Out, with Johnson set to handle both. According to Variety, which confirmed Craig would return for both films, the deal was worth an estimated $450 million.
