Jordan Cashmyer, a former reality TV star who was featured on the MTV series 16 And Pregnant in 2014, has died at the age of 26.

Cashmyer’s family revealed the news on Facebook on Sunday morning. The medical examiner’s office confirmed Cashmyer’s death to TMZ, though an official cause of death was not immediately available.

“Last night I received a call no parent ever wants,” Jordan’s father, Dennis Cashmyer, wrote on Facebook. “My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER.”

Cashmyer continued, “Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy. Please understand and respect our privacy at this time. We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, grand daughter [sic] Lyla and family members.”

Jordan and her then-boyfriend Derek Taylor appeared in a 2014 episode of 16 And Pregnant, which chronicled Cashmyer’s struggles with unemployment, homelessness and being disowned by her family, who at the time did not approve of their daughter’s relationship with Taylor.

Cashmyer’s death comes after her public battle with addiction. After checking into rehab in 2014, she was arrested for drug possession in 2017. In January 2021, the former reality TV star celebrated one year of sobriety.
