Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders Join 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'

Jackson might have only appeared right at the end of 'Avengers: Infinity War' in a post-credits scene, but it looks like he'll be appearing in all three Marvel films due in 2019.

Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury might have only briefly appeared in Avengers: Infinity War in a post-credits scene, but he's set to have his biggest Marvel year yet in 2019. As Vulture reports, Marvel has announced that he's joined the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home, and he'll be bringing Cobie Smulders, who plays Fury's frequent partner Maria Hill, along for the ride, too.

Spoilers ahead.

Dying at the hands (snap) of Thanos right at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Fury's appearance in one of the post-credits scenes teased the arrival of Captain Marvel, who will be joining the franchise in a big way in 2019. Before we see Jackson as Fury in Spider-Man, he has a significant starring role in Captain Marvel alongside Brie Larson, who is set to play the titular character. Captain Marvel will arrive in theaters on March 8, 2019, and is set in the '90s, before Thanos snapped his fingers and killed pretty much everyone.

Shortly thereafter, it looks like Jackson will be appearing in the untitled fourth Avengers movie, which will presumably bring Fury, Hill, and Spider-Man, among others, back to life before Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters in July of 2019. This will mark the first time Jackon's Fury and Tom Holland's Peter Parker have appeared on screen together.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be directed by Spider-Man: Homecomingalum Jon Watts and will be written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
