While details remain under wraps for The Matrix 4, word has gotten out that Priyanka Chopra Jonas is in final negotiations to join the film. As both the Hollywood Reporter and Variety have revealed, Chopra is looking to join the previously announced cast of Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Neil Patrick Harris.

As with almost every other element about the mysterious sci-fi sequel, details regarding Chopra's role haven't been revealed. Set to be directed by Matrix co-creator Lana Wachowski, The Matrix 4 is approaching the start of production as the cast has been training for the more action-oriented scenes. Shooting is expected to start imminently in northern California, while the film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 21, 2021.

The fourth Matrix was confirmed last August, with Abdul-Mateen II joining the cast as a lead shortly after. It has been reported that Jada Pinkett Smith was reportedly in talks to join the project, although it's unclear if she has signed on in any official capacity. Hugo Weaving, who famously portayed series villian Agent Smith in the original trilogy, will not return due to scheduling conflicts.

The trilogy-ending The Matrix Revolutions, arrived in theaters all the way back in 2003. Unlike previous entries, the film received a divisive response from critics and fans alike. It is not clear how Keanu Reeves' iconic Neo will be brought back into the franchise, considering that Revolutions ended with his apparent death.
