Mark Ruffalo stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his new legal thriller, Dark Waters. During his appearance, he also made sure to talk about his beloved turn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bruce Banner, b.k.a. the Hulk. Unlike some of his co-stars, Avengers: Endgame didn't see Ruffalo say goodbye to the role, but he's hinted to Colbert that it could be the last time fans see him big and green for the forseeable future.
"I don't know," he replied when asked if fans will get to see the Hulk anytime soon at the 6:00 point of the interview. "I do know that I did give Kevin Feige the Blockbuster Award at the Hollywood Film Awards the other day, to a smattering of applause... And he did say, 'Hey, do you think there is anymore story left here?' And I said, 'I could probably come up with a few storylines.' And he said, 'Well maybe you should come in and we'll have a talk.'"
Ruffalo is expected to reprise his role in the animated anthology series What If...?, which is expected to hit Disney+ in 2021. It is worth noting, however, that Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hiddleston, Josh Brolin, and a few other departed characters will be making guest appearances in the show, too.
A good portion of his conversation with Colbert focused on Dark Waters, in which Ruffalo portrays corporate defense lawyer Robert Bilott, who helped exposed decades of chemical pollution. The 51-year-old actor even brought along the real Bilott, whom Ruffalo spoke very highly of. Ruffalo also took a moment to discuss who he wants to see as President of the United States as the elections begin to loom.
"I'm very excited by the Democratic brand altogether," he said. "But, for me, I started with Bernie on this trip... And when I think about it, what I see is he led. He led then, and he's leading now. He's been consistent his whole life. [...] The rest of the United States has finally caught up to what this cat's been doing already for his entire career. And you know that when he does get into office, he is going to be fighting for us."
