UPDATED 10/12 3:10 p.m. ET:Â After he said a run for president was âoff the table,â Dwayne Johnson has suggested that he might still consider it in the future.
âIâm just really grounded and humbled by the interest on both sides. But the No.1 job, and my No. 1 title, that I love right now is daddy,â he told CNNâs Jake Tapper in an interview on Tuesday. "I have seriously considered it. You have to. When you start looking at some of these polls, and these numbers creep up into the 46%, 50% of the country would vote for me should I run, and I have been â Iâve been really moved by that."
So a run in 2024 definitely isnât happening, but the response has inspired him to come back around to the idea somewhere down the line. Johnson is 50-years-old at the moment, so thereâs still plenty of time for him to pivot to politics if he so wishes.Â

Despite long-running speculation about his political aspirations, Dwayne Johnson has ruled out a potential run for president in the future.
In an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, Johnson told Tracy Smith that heâs not interested in becoming POTUS. âItâs off the table. Yes. It is off the table,â Johnson said. âI will say this because it requires a B-side to this. I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy. And thatâs the most important thing to me is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughtersâ lives.â
He said if he were to take office, heâd have less time to spend with his family. âI know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years in my first daughterâsâŠGrowing up in this critical age at this critical time in their life, and thatâs what the presidency will do. So my number one priority is my daughters,â he continued. ââSure, CEO sounds great. But the number one thing I wanna be is daddy. Thatâs it.â
In an interview with Variety in 2017, Johnson said that he would â100 percent considerâ a run in 2024. Speaking with Vanity Fair more recently in 2021, he said he met with people to conduct âresearch and analysis to seeâ what running for president could be like. However, he concluded that he doesnât âknow the first thing about politics.â While he cares âdeeplyâ about the United States, he made it clear he doesnât âknow the first thing about policy.â
