On Bruce Willis’ 68th birthday this past weekend, his wife, Emma Heming, shared a message about caring for the actor following his dementia diagnosis.

“I have started the morning by crying as you can see by my swollen eyes and snotty nose," she said in a video shared on Instagram. "I just think it's important that you see all sides of this. I always get this message where people always tell me that, 'Oh you're so strong. I don't know how you do it.' I'm not given a choice. I wish I was. But I'm also raising two kids in this. So sometimes, in our lives, we have to put our big girl panties on and get to it. And that's what I'm doing. But I do have times of sadness every day. Grief every day, and I'm really feeling it today on his birthday."

She added that she’s posted various videos dedicated to Willis not just for herself, but his fans too. Heming described watching some of the clips as a “knife to my heart,” and started to cry moments later. "I see your messages, your stories that you share, and all I can say is thank you," she added in the caption for the video. "Your connection helps me and I hope it helps you in a small way to know that I see you and I deeply understand your journey as well."

Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore also helped celebrate the actor’s birthday by sharing a touching video that showed his family gathered to sing for him over a candlelit pie.

"Happy birthday, BW! So glad we could celebrate you today," wrote Moore alongside the video. "Love you and love our family. Thank you to everyone for the love and warm wishes — we all feel them."

The latest clip from Heming comes less than a month after she requested paparazzi keep their distance from the actor, who retired from acting last year.
