Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph Kicked Off the Hostless Oscars

The trio was the best possible solution for the host-free event.

The Oscars are hostless. You know it, I know it, Kevin Hart's accountant knows it. Rather than trot around the issue, the show threw a spotlight onto it. Producers kicked off the show with a quick bit that played off the natural chemistry between Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph while poking fun at the rudderless ceremony, the actors in attendance, and President Donald Trump.

Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and @MayaRudolph BROUGHT IT! 🤣🤣🤣

“Good evening and welcome to the one millionth Academy Awards,” Fey began. “We are not your hosts, but we’re going to stand here a little too long so that the people who get USA Today tomorrow will think that we hosted.”

Rudolph doubled down on the many gaffes that the Academy suffered through in recent months, before tying it to one other person with egg on his orange face.

"There is no host tonight. There won’t be a popular movie category, and Mexico is not paying for the wall,” Rudolph said.

Fans watching were 100 percent on board with the trio's opening bit, only wondering why they weren't asked to host the whole thing. Check out the opening up top and a few of the reactions below.
