Diego Luna is heading back to a galaxy far, far away. According to Variety, the Mexican actor will reprise his role as rebel spy Cassian Andor for a live-action series on Disney's new streaming service.

Though it should be obvious to anyone who saw his turn in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we'll just go ahead and say that the series is a prequel that shows Andor's life before he joins the team of fighters who steal the Death Star plans. Andor died at the end of Rogue One after getting the plans to his comrades in the Rebel Alliance.

Even given that certain ending, Luna is excited to take the character back on.

“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” Luna said in a statement. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

In that sole outing, Luna's Andor made a huge impact. Mexican viewers were taken aback by Luna's decision to play the hero in his natural accent. It's rare that a hero in a blockbuster film has anything other than an American accent and fans couldn't wait to share the way his portrayal affected them.

"Mexicans are often seen as drug dealers and rapists,” viewer Perla Nation wrote in a post about seeing the movie with her dad that went viral. “Now, you see a Mexican hero.”

The show will premiere on Disney's upcoming streaming service Disney+ and production for Luna's series is expected to start in 2019.
