Artie Lange was arrested for drug possesion earlier this week. According to Page Six, the comedian and former Mad TV star was jailed for possesion of a controlled substance in Essex County, New Jersey.

While Lange's team didn't share news of the arrest, they did announce on Twitter that Lange had been admitted to rehab for a long-term treatment program.

“Excuse any show advertisements.. starting today, Artie will be undergoing a long term treatment program, he loves and respects his fans… updates coming soon.. and it’s time – TeamLange,” they wrote.

The comic is currently on probation over heroin possesion charges. Lange, whose nose is visibly misshapen due to years of abusing cocaine and heroin, has been urged to go to rehab in the past.

This is it but I believe her nose had a septum and had not been hideously deformed due to over 3 decades of drug abuse. pic.twitter.com/U2LmcnpI4B

Comedians implored Lange to sober up recently on Twitter, with everyone from Richard Lewis to Patton Oswalt encouraging Lange to get on the wagon.

"Artie, this is my 1000th request over decades to beg you to surrender to your addictions. When you had time clean we had the most laughs sober. I love you. You’re beloved and a magnificent comedian cursed with self-loathing and fear. Give it up and live," Lewis wrote.

Oswalt agreed.

What Richard said. Come ON, Artie. https://t.co/YcKpn6NC7G

Comic Brian Posehn joined in on the encouragement.

"Seriously @artiequitter, please, please listen to Richard," he said. "As a fellow comic, I really don’t want to have to tweet about how fucking funny you were and how sad it is you’re gone any time super soon. We all love you alive, man."

Lange has yet to be released from jail and is expected to remain there until his case goes before a judge on Feb. 6.
