In the age of streaming, it seems like purchasing home copies of the latest blockbusters has become a thing of the past. But director Rian Johnson just gave viewers an awesome incentive to snag a personal copy of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The home release of the latest Star Wars film includes access to a never-before-seen version that is silent, with the exception of John Williams’ score.
This special version of the film is available for those who purchase both digital and physical Blu-Ray copies. Johnson pointed out the addition via Twitter to make sure no fans missed the “kinda hidden” special feature. Digital copies of The Last Jedi are already available for download stateside.
With this special version of the film, the legendary composer is getting some much deserved attention. The 86-year-old has been scoring Star Wars films for decades since its debut in 1977, which landed him an Academy Award for Best Original Score. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Williams plans to finish his long career with the franchise following the forthcoming Episode IX. "We know J.J. Abrams is preparing one now for next year that I will hopefully do for him, and I look forward to it," Williams said. "It will round out a series of nine and be quite enough for me."
The Blu-Ray release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi is available on March 27.
