Power show production assistant dies

Early Monday morning, a car accident on the set of Power killed a production assistant.

According to Deadline, Pedro Jimenez was struck by an SUV at 4:30 a.m. EST while he was setting up parking cones at the Brooklyn location for the Starz series. Following his death, production on the sixth season of the show has been temporarily halted.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the members of our Power family,” a Starz spokesperson told Deadline on Monday. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Jimenez’ family as we work to fully understand what has happened.”

The 63-year old parking PA has been working on the set of Power since its debut back in 2014. The driver who hit Jimenez was another member of the crew. NYPD has talked to the driver and is investigating the incident. Jimenez was pronounced dead by medical authorities at Brooklyn Hospital, and his family was immediately notified.

The 50 Cent-produced series was renewed for a sixth season back in March. In October, the rapper-turned-producer inked a massive four-year overall deal with Starz to the tune of $150 million. He's not only continuing his work on Power, but expanding the development of his G-Unit Film & Television, Inc. company.

Since production on Power was already set to take a break for the holidays, the cast and crew will likely resume operations following the accident in 2019.
