Saturday Night Live returned this weekend with its former head writer Seth Meyers at the helm. The show wasted no time criticizing Donald Trump’s meeting with Kanye, who performed on the show two weeks ago. In a later skit with Kenan Thompson and Meyers, the two imagine what prison is like for convicted rapist Bill Cosby.
Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years on Sept. 25 for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand. He was handcuffed and taken to prison that same day, where he will serve time after being dubbed a "sexually violent predator” by Judge Steven O'Neill.
Reports surfaced last week that Cosby is not having the best time in prison, but on SNL Thompson and Meyers look at Cosby’s life behind bars as an extension of The Cosby Show, with the disgraced comedian resuming his role as Cliff Huxtable and having the time of his life. At one point he also claims to be in prison for eating too much salty food.
“I am in my prime,” he tells his new cellmate, played by Meyers. “I am in jail and loving it—no kids with the darndest things, limited interactions with Camille, and when I was fighting incarceration, I had no idea that one of the staple foods of the prison system is Jello.”
In the skit, Thompson’s Cosby lectures Meyers and rants about young black men who “chose to wear their pants around the b-u-t-t, having the drawers hanging out.” “They should be in jail,” he chides, a jab at Cosby’s infamously conservative speaking tours.
Later on in the skit, Cosby pulls out a hoagie, talks to a turtle he believes is Quincy Jones, and hands Meyers a letter to send to “Elvin” (aka Geoffrey Owens) so he can ship snacks from his job as Trader Joe’s.
“Wow, you are just like Cliff Huxtable, except in one major way,” Meyers comments.
All jokes and skits aside, more than 60 women have come forward with accusations against Cosby, who was convicted for only one of those cases.
