20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for its highly anticipated upcoming film, Ford v. Ferrari.
In the new clip, co-stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale showcase some of the humor that will be present in the film, starting with a goofy fight between legendary Ford designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and British driver Ken Miles (Bale). The trailer then transitions to Shelby trying to convince Miles to participate in his seemingly impossible mission.
Ford v. Ferrari follows Shelby's quest to create a Ford sports car that can beat the Ferrari racing team in the 1966 Le Mans. Not only was Ford a severe underdog in comparison to Ferrari, but Shelby also added pressure to himself by telling the world that he only needed 90 days to complete the competition vehicle. The actors play out the story that Bale has described as a tale of "David vs. Goliath vs. Goliath."
“You’ve got the industrial Goliath with Ford and the charismatic Goliath of reputation with Ferrari, and then this true story of the triumph of the misfits,” he said of the James Mangold-directed film.
Ford v. Ferrari marks the first time Bale and Damon have been paired together on the silver screen, and so far so good. The film received raves after its screening at this week’s Toronto International Film Festival, and should be a major player come Oscar time. It hits theaters on Nov. 15.
