The new batch of Top Boy boasts new original music from Brian Eno (U2, Coldplay, James Blake, et al.) and Michael "Mikey J" Asante. The ten-episode third season centers on Dushane's return to London, where he links with Sully amid new regional leadership from Jamie (Micheal Ward).

Speaking with Capital XTRA in June 2018, Walters detailed how Drake helped bring the series back to life.

"There was a year and a half of silence and I didn't really hear from them again," Walters, who said he had previously been in touch with Drake and his management "on a regular basis," said at the time of the surprise move that kicked Top Boy back into gear. "Then I get a call from the production company saying Drake has done the deal."
