Lena Dunham is heading back to HBO, jumping in the post-Game of Thrones wilderness as a producer and director of the upcoming series Industry.
Dunham will executive produce the series and direct the pilot, according to Variety. The series follows a group of twenty-somethings who are trying to make a career in finance. The series, created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, will draw its central conflict from the limited number of spots available at a high-powered firm. The stars will mingle, form friendships, alliances, and animosities all while competing for a space in a London-based company.
The new series is a far cry from the last time we heard from Dunham around here. The show runner and actress was accused of being the woman who bit Beyoncé at a 2017 party. The mystery was started by Tiffany Haddish, who recalled the incident without naming names in a GQ interview.
“There was this actress there that's just, like, doing the mostest," Haddish said. "She bit Beyoncé in the face...So Beyoncé stormed away, went up to JAY-Z, and was like, 'JAY! Come here! This bitch!'— and snatched him."
Dunham took to Twitter after the accusations flew her way.
“As the patron saint of ‘She would do that...’ I didn’t,” she wrote.
As the patron saint of “She would do that...”
I didn’t.
Though Dunham is known for being all over Girls on both sides of the camera, all reports seem to indicate that her involvement with Industry is purely off-screen. Industry has been picked up for an eight-episode run.
