Ahead of the release of Apple TV Plus, the company's long-awaited streaming service, Apple has launched the trailer for its original series For All Mankind. The alternative history drama will chronicle the space race between the United States and Russia in the 1960's and '70's, and fictionally examine what would have happened if the race for galactic exploration had never ended.

Per the official logline, the Ron Moore (Battlestar Galactica) created series will explore, “an aspirational world where NASA astronauts, engineers and their families find themselves in the center of extraordinary events seen through the prism of an alternate history timeline — a world in which the USSR beats the U.S. to the moon."

Seth Gordon directed the upcoming 10-episode release, which will showcase the on-screen talents of Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Wrenn Schmidt, Shantel VanSanten, and Jodi Balfour.

For All Mankind is the most in-depth look into Apple's original series ahead of the streaming service launch, which is planned for this fall. The company has been very discreet regarding the shows it gas in development, only previewing short clips of the various series that will be featured on Apple TV Plus.

The company's CEO, Tim Cook, explained the scope of the platform at a conference in March, announcing it will function as, "the new home for the world’s most creative storytellers, featuring exclusive original shows, movies, and documentaries."

In addition to For All Mankind, the company is set to launch The Morning Show, starring Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carell; an Amazing Stories reboot; Little Voice, created by Sara Bareilles and J.J. Abrams; and Dickinson, starring Hailee Steinfeld, which will explore the life and career of the legendary poet Emily Dickinson, per Variety
