After becoming Saturday Night Live's longest-tenured cast member, Kenan Thompson is finally getting his own show.

NBC has decided to order production on a new single-cam sitcom featuring Thompson called The Kenan Show, according to Variety. Thompson will play a family man adjusting to life as a widower. His character also has to balance his inappropriate father-in-law (Andy Garcia) becoming more involved in their lives. The Kenan Show will also star Punam Patel and sisters Dani Lockett and Dannah Lockett.

Thompson will serve as one of the series' executive producers and writers, while Chris Rock will join in as an executive producer and a director. Of course, Rock produced the semi-autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris.

The new gig doesn't mean Kenan will vacate his role on SNL. NBC has made accommodations that allowed Thompson to shoot the show's pilot season and SNL. Thompson will also be a judge on NBC's comedy competition show Bring The Funny alongside Jeff Foxworthy and Chrissy Teigen.
