The CW series Arrow is coming to an end with an abbreviated 10-episode Season 8 airing this fall. Stephen Amell confirmed the news in a tweet where he expressed his appreciation towards getting the opportunity to play Oliver Queen.
CW president Mark Pedowitz hinted at Arrow's impending doom by suggesting that a new wave of DC Comics-inspired series could be on the horizon for the network at the TCAs in January. "Things will age and we want to get the next generation of shows to keep The CW DC universe going for as long as possible," Pedowitz said, per Hollywood Reporter. Since its premiere in 2012, Arrow has paved the way for a number of comic book TV adaptations, including the shows which exist within the Arrow-verse.
Casts from Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow will converge in the crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earths." It could be the moment when Oliver Queen meets his demise in what may turn into a callback to the deal that he made with The Monitor in last year's crossover "Elseworlds."
