Kenan Thompson is not the spokesperson for Saturday Night Live, nor is he Pete Davidson’s PR guy. But that hasn't stopped the media form asking Thompson to address Davidson’s controversial joke about ex Navy SEAL and Senate candidate Dan Crenshaw.

First, Thompson sided with critics on Monday, agreeing that Davidson’s joke about the veteran's eye patch ((he lost his eye serving in Afghanistan) “missed the mark”.

While appearing on The View on Tuesday, Thompson doubled down, adding that SNL is “figuring out a way to right that wrong.”

#SNL's Kenan Thompson reacts to his co-star Pete Davidson's joke about a wounded vet, saying it's "never somewhere I would go": "Pete's a good kid, he has a big heart … I definitely don't think he goes out to offend people, but unfortunately that's what happened in this case." pic.twitter.com/ioiIVd2C8y

“I know it’s being handled internally, and it’s not really my department but since I’m out promoting The Grinch I get to answer these questions,” Thompson said, replying to a question from Meghan McCain. “They’re figuring out a way to right that wrong, I’m pretty sure...It’s not our intention to disrespect anyone. Our whole thing is to just be artists and hold up a mirror.”

Well, there you have it folks. A wrong is being righted, and now we can get back to voting, not making fun of war veterans, and letting Thompson promote his new movie, which hits theaters this weekend.
