YouTube and Jordan Peele’s Sci-Fi Anthology Casts Rosario Dawson, Laverne Cox, Michael Cera

The forthcoming sci-fi comedy series, which is co-written by Jordan Peele and Charlie Sanders, will premiere exclusively on YouTube Premium in 2019.

Last month, YouTube ordered a six-episode run of the comedic sci-fi anthology series Weird City, which will come from the minds of co-creators Jordan Peele and Charlie Sanders. It was already revealed that the show will premiere on YouTube's Premium video series sometime next year, but at least we now know the cast.

As Deadline reports, Sara Gilbert, Dylan O'Brien, Ed O'Neill, Rosario Dawson, Michael Cera, Laverne Cox, and LeVar Burton have signed up to appear in episodes of Weird City. The forthcoming half-hour series is set in the near-future, and will attempt to explore modern-day issues through the lens of sci-fi and comedy.

Produced by Peele's Monkey Paw Productions, Sonar Entertainment, Mosaic, and Raskal Productions, Weird City is just one of the major projects Peele has coming in 2019. Peele's next directorial film effort, Us, will arrive next year. Lupita Nyong'o, Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, and Winston Duke will star in the highly anticipated flick. The film follows Peele's 2017 debut feature Get Out, which \ at this year's Academy Awards.

When it was revealed that Heidecker had joined the cast of Us earlier this month, Peele bluntly delivered the news on Twitter with a simple "Hehe."
