Tyrone Fleming, a YouTube actor who portrayed Tye Banga on 848—a web series with almost 20,000 subscribers—was found stabbed to death on Wednesday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, officers uncovered the crime scene at around 5.30 p.m ET, after Fleming’s concerned co-workers contacted his family to inquire why he didn’t show up at his Con Edison job that day. CBS New York reports that Fleming was stabbed from the back. Police say that there appeared to be no signs of a forced entry, which may mean that Fleming knew the killer.
Friends of Fleming say that they don't believe the killing had any connection to the web series. While the New York Police Department has begun its investigation into possible suspects and motives, Fleming’s family members and friends had nothing but positive things to say about him—describing him as a good man, a hard worker, and a good father to his two children.
"He was a hard worker, a family man, two kids, my heart goes out to his family, goes out to his children, his mother, everyone who loved him, everyone who touched him," Fleming's co-worker Kenny Thomas said.
Calvin Kennedy, a friend of Fleming, told CBS, "To lose him is just terribly devastating."
No arrests have been made in connection to the killing.
