Lizzie McGuire and Younger star Hilary Duff has gotten in trouble after taking to Instagram to publicly call out a rude New York City neighbor by name to her 9.2 million followers. Duff had an issue with the amount of cigarettes and weed that her neighbor smokes, which would cause her apartment smell. She not only posted the first and last name of her neighbor on her stories, but also shared a screenshot of his Instagram page, and drew cat ears and whiskers on a photo of his at least three times.
She posted the majority of the content on her Instagram Stories yesterday, so they are no longer available, but Mashable reports that Duff began her furious series of videos by saying, "Calling all New Yorkers with asshole neighbors, I'm really open to any advice you have. My neighbor smokes cigarettes and weed all night long and my apartment reeks.”

"We know your parents pay your rent, we know you've never worked a day in your life, it must be nice," Duff said in another video. "Have some respect for your neighbors who work hard to live in that building. Don't be a dick, dude. And put your trash down the chute.”
She capped off the rant with the following: “And another thing ... stop breaking all your furniture when you fight with your girlfriend or boyfriend... it scares me and my kid... therapy is cheaper," and then suggested he get a vape.
A representative for Instagram told The Blast that some of the content on Duff’s account was removed for violating Instagram’s terms of service, specifically a rule about bullying, defaming and harassing which reads:
“You must not defame, stalk, bully, abuse, harass, threaten, impersonate or intimidate people or entities and you must not post private or confidential information via the Service, including, without limitation, your or any other person’s credit card information, social security or alternate national identity numbers, non-public phone numbers or non-public email addresses.”
Although it’s easy to be sympathetic to Duff’s frustration, her latest outburst might work against her, as this isn’t the first time the two have clashed. Duff’s neighbor has reportedly already filed a police report after Duff’s boyfriend, Matthew Koma, allegedly punched him during a fight over his smoking habits earlier this week. “I tried to avoid his fist, but he hit me on the head,” Addison, Duff’s neighbor, told Page Six. “So I pushed him out of the apartment, but I didn’t assault him.”
After the punching incident, representatives for Duff gave the following statement to Page Six on Wednesday:
“Hilary and her young son have been subjected to excessive secondhand smoke, late night noise, garbage in the hallways, and an overall hazardous living environment from this man for months now. She tried numerous times in polite ways to handle this situation including countless sessions with the landlords of the building. As every mother knows, protecting your kid has to come first and foremost and that is her primary goal. She reached a breaking point after a 15 hour work day and yet another sleepless night."
