Stand-up comedian, actor, writer and podcast host Kumail Nanjiani hosted this week's episode of Saturday Night Live. Nanjiani is an actor on HBO's Emmy Award-nominated series Silicon Valley, TNT's Franklin & Bash, Adult Swim's Newsreaders and wrote and starred in the 2017 romantic comedy The Big Sick.
SNL released two promos in the lead-up to the airing of the episode. Though it's Kumail Nanjiani's first time hosting the popular sketch comedy show, it's not the first time he's been in it. Back in 2008 the comedian played an "Indian Reporter" during an episode hosted by James Franco with musical guests Kings of Leon.
During his hilarious opening monologue, Nanjiani addressed the popularity of Islamophobia again (it's like Will & Grace), being Muslim in America, and racist inaccuracies. His jokes about "race mixing" and informing racists to be smarter racists are so accurate given today's climate under Trump.
The night's musical guest was Pink, who just dropped her seventh studio album Beautiful Trauma this past Friday. The 13-track album boasts a feature from Eminem on the track "Revenge." Pink released her previous album The Truth About Love back in 2012.
