Cross being "knighted" off the bucket list for Salma Hayek. On Sunday (January 1st), the 45-year old actress was selected by French President Nicolas Sarkozy to receive the Légion d'Honneur.
She'll enter the five-tiered honor academy as a Chevalier or "Knight," and receive a formal induction, which includes a Presidential medal pinning. A source tells PEOPLE mag that the induction will mostly take place at the Élysées Palace within the next two months.
The Legion of Honor is typically awarded to military personnel and selected individuals for service to France, but is also often given to figures on international importance.
Hayek joins select company like Jerry Lewis, Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford and Robert De Niro, who've received the honor.
