As was mentioned in one of the Greatest Posts Of All Time ™, dance music often gets a shitty rep, and at the moment, nothing is more divisive, not to mention generally misunderstood than bass music. Amid the cries of ruined scenes, lost creativity and the tendency to call anything and everything dubstep, the UK bass music scene has gone from strength to strength with a whole raft (or three, depending how big the raft is) of producers pushing and pulling dance music in so many different, and exciting directions.

Whilst Rustie and Joker both clearly make dance music, it is first and foremost based on the love of, and ear for, a great melody rather than pounding drums, aggressive wobble or whatever else might pop into your head when you hear the words “dance” and “music” in close proximity. Joker and Rustie have been well-respected in their respective cities of Bristol and Glasgow for a number of years, but it is only now that we finally get their debut albums – and both have lived up to high expectations.

Rustie’s debut, “Glass Swords” is out now, ready for you to get sucked in to it’s euphoric, face-melting and frenetic brilliance, so check out the future carnival sounds of “Flash Back” below and head over here to the Guardian’s website for the full album stream.

Joker’s album is called “The Vision” (you might have caught Freddie Gibbs going in over the title track a couple of weeks ago) and will be released at the beginning of November. Hit the jump to stream this synth led, bass-driven feast of an album from the purple-loving badboy himself. With guest vocalists bringing catchy, pop-leaning hooks to nearly half of the albums songs, I guess this is what Top 40 radio will sound like in 10 years time, but until then, enjoy!
